A PBC list builder that dates every item back from fieldwork

Pick the client's industry, audit or review, the year end and the first day of fieldwork. The builder returns a PBC request list with the items that industry adds and a due date on every line.

The base list is our PBC list template, item for item, with the auditing standards cited as they are numbered in the United Kingdom: ISA (UK) 210 for the terms of the engagement, ISA (UK) 505 for confirmations and ISA (UK) 550 for related parties. An industry adds its own group: the contract schedule and retentions for construction, funds and grants for a nonprofit, deferred revenue for SaaS.

Dates are staggered, because one due date for everything gets answered in the order that suits the client. Documents that exist already are due six weeks before fieldwork. Schedules that need the year closed are due two weeks before, and never sooner than three weeks after year end. Items that run up to fieldwork, such as cash received after year end, are due on the first day. A review drops the confirmation, count and legal-letter items, which a review does not test.

Sending a PBC list as a request list

A PBC list is what FirmHello calls a request list. Each line becomes an item the client's staff upload against, the reminders go out until it arrives, and the controller and the audit senior see the same open items. Confirmations and the legal letter stay outside it: they go from you to the third party and back. More on how it works for audit teams on the client portal for accounting firms page.

Send the PBC list once, and let it chase

Each line becomes something the client's staff upload against, with its due date. Reminders go out until the list is complete.
